Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT)
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy is often abbreviated to CBT, it is based on the concept that your thoughts, feelings, physical sensations, behaviour and responses are interconnected. CBT can help work through problems that cause you to feel overwhelmed, trapped, negative and panicked, by breaking down emotions, physical sensations and unhelpful thinking styles finding more positive ways of being. There is generally some homework for clients to work through in-between sessions.
Dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT)
Dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) is a type of cognitive behavioral therapy.Cognitive behavioral therapy tries to identify and change negative thinking patterns and pushes for positive behavioral changes. DBT may be used to treat suicidal and other self-destructive behaviours
Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprogramming (EMDR)
When we experience something that is traumatic, it gets stored in the brain in a way that we may believe and feel that it will happen again at any moment. Anything can trigger the feelings and transport us back to the event and the brain reacts as if the initial event is happening again. EMDR helps to move the storage of that memory to a more functional part of the brain that can experience the event of actually being in the past
Family Mediation or Family Group Meetings
This type of treatment brings family groups together to find better ways of being, its future focused, gives validation of feelings and encourages the family to listen to each other so that everyone feels validated and go forward in a more positive way, help sort out issues that are causing problems within the family.
